A surprise first-round pick in the 1982 NFL Draft, Mike Quick played nine seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, becoming one of the best wide receivers in professional football. During his career, Quick racked up 363 receptions, 6,464 receiving yards and 61 touchdowns. In 1995, he was inducted into the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame.
Quick said the strategies he employed on the field also apply to business leaders looking to outsmart their competition. In order to capitalize on opportunities, careful analysis of your industry peers is critical, he said.
“Knowing the competition in your field is so important,” said Quick. “You have to understand their strengths and their weaknesses.”
Understanding your personal skill set is equally essential, he added, as it helps build a stronger organization.
“If you have a weak link in your chain, you need to know how to maneuver around it,” said Quick.
